The first Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival takes place between the 8th and 12th of October on the Scottish well-known Filmhouse cinemas. The initiative is promoted by the Spanish Consulate in Edinburgh and the University of Edinburgh, with the aim of supporting and promoting the Spanish cinema and the Spanish culture and language.

In this first edition of the festival, the documentary "Mugaritz BSO" is presented. After the screening an act is organised with Andoni Aduriz at the University of Edinburgh.

To the event attend recognized people from the industry, such as, the director Fernando Franco (“Wounded”), and the academic experts Sarah Wright (University of London) and Jose Saval (University of Edinburgh).

"Mugaritz B.S.O." is the visual result of the three years that Felipe Ugarte, director of the documentary, have expend exploring the meaning, elaboration and history of some of the culinary formulas of Mugaritz. Its purpose has been to transform these formulas into musical language. This creative process culminated in the production of the documentary 'Mugaritz BSO, "which spells out the evolution of the entire project, from preparation of the dishes in the restaurant until the recordings in the studio, to travel to Ethiopia and Peru in search of melodies. The main objective of the documentary is to show the conversion of ideas and culinary creations in musical creations through the use of a wide palette of colours and textures common to both worlds, the culinary and musical.
