Errenteria, 18 November 2024. Coordinated by Mugaritz, the Michelin-starred chefs of Gipuzkoa will be offering a charity dinner at the Basque Culinary Center on 13 December, as part of the ‘Desde Valencia para Valencia’ solidarity initiative. The aim of the event is to raise funds for the victims of the DANA that has hit the Valencian Community, seriously affecting its social and business fabric. This initiative, which originated in Valencia, will be carried out simultaneously both nationally and internationally.
Chefs with one, two and three Michelin stars have decided to join forces and show their solidarity with this cause, demonstrating that gastronomy can and should be an engine of support and hope to contribute in contexts of difficulty and gravity. The special menu for this evening will be prepared by: Paulo Airaudo (Amelia**), Aitor Arregi (Elkano*), Elena Arzak (Arzak***), Martín Berasategui (Martín Berasategui***), Edorta Lamo (Arrea*), Iñigo Lavado (Iñigo Lavado), Dani López (Kokotxa*), Andoni Luis Aduriz (Mugaritz**), Roberto Ruiz (Hika Bodega), Pedro Subijana (Akelarre***) and Gorka Txapartegui (Alameda*). Bodegas Osborne and the Subsierra wine collective, made up of eight wineries from Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta, will provide the beverages for this dinner.
Reservations can be made through the website desdevalenciaparavalencia.com/cenas-solidarias/.
An event with a charitable purpose
The event is part of a global effort spearheaded by renowned Valencian chefs Ricard Camarena, Quique Dacosta and Begoña Rodrigo, with the support of the Valencian Business Association (AVE). In Gipuzkoa, the AEFAME (Association of Family Businesses of the Basque Country) has taken up the baton, lending its support to this cause.
The charity dinner in Gipuzkoa joins those that will be organised simultaneously in different parts of the world with a single objective: to raise funds to help the recovery of the Valencian Community, especially with regard to the revitalisation of small businesses and the maintenance of employment. All proceeds will go entirely to those affected.
‘Table 0’ initiative
For those who wish to collaborate in some way with this solidarity initiative, the ‘Table 0’ option has been enabled on the website www.desdevalenciaparavalencia.com, through which both individuals and companies can make donations of the amount they consider appropriate. Donations will be open until 20 December 2024.
